What’s Your Why?

PART A

Why = The Purpose

We believe that our students have the right to explore learning using curiosity which will inspire them and transform lives by creating independent thinkers.

How = The Process

We will create authentic learning environments by using technology and a blended learning model to promote self-directed learning while giving students choice, ownership, and voice to promote collaboration and exploration.

What = The Result

We create lifelong learners with the skills to become successful in all aspects of life.

Part B

Prior to my master's program, I never had the opportunity to fully engage my creativity in the classroom. I hold the conviction that students should have the freedom to fuel their learning with curiosity, which will inspire them and lead to the creation of independent thinkers—this is my "why." Reflecting on my educational journey, I realize how much more I could have learned if this approach had been available from the beginning, rather than just now in my 40s. If we initiate this change from the onset of schooling, the impact on our students' lives could be profound. We must foster an environment where students can learn naturally. As educators, it's our duty to proactively offer students the chance to navigate their learning through technology and hands-on activities within a blended learning framework. By establishing a significant learning environment in the classroom, we promote curiosity and inquiry with flexible, student-centered instruction. Here, students are empowered with choice, ownership, and voice over their education, leading to enhanced knowledge and a commitment to lifelong learning. Having been granted autonomy over my learning, I developed an innovation plan for my school. I am confident that this plan will nurture a passion for learning in my students by integrating technology and inquiry, preparing them for success in our tech-centric society. The time for change is now; we cannot afford to cling to traditional, teacher-led instruction. We must commit to our "why," listen to our hearts, adopt blended learning, and utilize technology effectively. Our goal is to tailor education to each student, enabling them to become the best versions of themselves.
